Frequently Asked Questions

  • I work with adults who are dealing with stress, or anxiety, and who may be noticing issues with relationships, boundaries, perfectionism, and/or low self-esteem (among other issues).

Often, we find that anxiety may be caused by things that happened in childhood, unfulfilling relationships, or feelings that are trapped under the guise of anxiety.

The simplest way to connect with me is to visit my website anamoralmhc.com and request an appointment for a free consultation. I then send you a small survey which is only read by myself. It helps filter out really basic issues such as insurance, times preferred, and your particular concern. It also helps me prepare to connect with you. Your time is valuable and I want to help you make the most of it.

Rest assured that if I can’t help you I will try my best to help you find someone who can.

I do not discriminate based on any sexual orientation, religious preference, political stance, race, gender, age, etc.

  • I am licensed to provide online therapy for people living in New York State. I work fully remotely providing virtual sessions. I find that seeing individuals online helps with the continuity of sessions. You don’t have to commute to see me and you can meet with me using your laptop or phone. It also helps keep costs down so that I don’t have to charge as much as other therapists do.

  • Online therapy is basically the same as regular therapy, except it happens using a secure
    electronic health platform system,
Sessions will be conducted through the platform and are easy to access from your laptop or cellphone. All you need is a private space. Sessions are typically 45 minutes to an hour long, and may take place weekly, or at whatever frequency you and your therapist decide on.

  • Not at this time because of Covid concerns.

  • Therapy is an investment in your body, mind, and spirit. While things and experiences have a limited return on investment. The work and outcomes you get from therapy can last a lifetime. It really depends on what you value and whether you can afford not to care for your mental health.

Individual sessions vary slightly in price and range from 150-200 dollars a session. I occasionally have some time slots that are slightly cheaper based on the time of day.
Currently, I accept certain Aetna and Cigna plans.
Many insurance plans offer partial payment for out-of-network providers. You can check your insurance company.

You ask them who handles behavioral health reimbursement and speak with a representative who can provide you with an estimate of what you are entitled to. I then provide you with a receipt of payment and services that you send to insurance for reimbursement.

Also if you subscribe to a Flexible Spending Plan and have a credit card allotted I can bill your plan directly.

I accept credit/debit cards as well as Venmo.

All clients are required to have a credit card on file. I bill your credit card after each session either for your insurance copay or your full-service fee.

Credit cards are run through a secure site (Stripe) and are never in my personal possession.

Each client will receive a Good Faith Estimate so that you are aware of the cost of services prior to receiving care.

If you have any questions or are ready to get started, you can talk with me directly by scheduling a phone consultation.

  • All services are self pay only. This means that you pay out-of-pocket for all services and I do not take insurance of any kind.

Doing all self-pay allows you to participate in therapy privately, without the restrictions that insurance companies can place on the process. As I see therapy as a jointly-created process, it’s important to me that you have total freedom in how often you come in, what we discuss, and how we focus on the problems that are most important to you. This also means that any information, including diagnoses or other health information, cannot be accessed by your insurance company.

Some insurance companies still allow out of network benefits. If this is the case for you, I create a monthly statement (called a SuperBill) with all the information that you need to submit. I do not submit these documents for you.

You may also be able to use a Health Savings Account and/or Flex Spending Account or other similar cards to pay for billable services.

  • Your first session with the therapist will be different from future visits. The initial visit is a period for you and your therapist to get to know each other and get an idea of how to proceed. Future visits will be more therapeutic in nature. For example, in your second session, you may explore a specific symptom, problem, or past trauma you mentioned in the first session.

During the first session, your therapist may ask you:

    What are your symptoms?
    What brought you to therapy?
What do you feel is wrong in your life?
Some questions about your history, including your childhood, education, relationships (family, romantic, friends), your current living situation, and your career.

  • Depending on your issue and therapy goals, therapy can last a few sessions or several weeks or years. While you likely want to know how long it's going to take to "feel better," there's no simple answer. It's very individualized.
In addition, some insurance plans only cover a set number of sessions in a given year, so you may need to factor in those limitations and/or work with your therapist to come up with a payment plan.

  • First, schedule a complimentary 20 minute phone consultation.

Once you schedule, I send you a quick 5 minute questionnaire to complete before we chart. Your consultation time will can help us decide if I am the right fit for you and will help me to provide you with awesome referrals if I’m not. Either way, a win/win.

If we decide we are a good fit, we will schedule your first appointment over the phone. I will then send you an email with a link to sign up for your own personalized client portal.
